About the Product

Healthwize Organic Noni Juice is sourced from Tahiti. It is a pure juice (not diluted or adulterated) and is very nutrient rich, thanks to the high quality soil in which the fruit is grown. Unlike many other noni juices on the market, it is processed without the use of heat - an important point since heat can destroy many of noni juice’s enzymes and vital nutrients.

The juice is made from high quality noni fruits, which are not irradiated, fermented or otherwise degraded. It is packaged in sturdy opaque plastic bottles (which may be an issue for those who prefer not to use plastic), and has a two year shelf life.

This is a fairly thick juice. Like most pure noni juices, the taste is (to me) a little bitter, but it is perfectly palatable, and not offensive. But since it is not meant to be drunk as a beverage, but rather taken in small quantities (about two tablespoons daily), the taste is not really that important anyway.

Ingredients

Pure organic noni juice 99.6%

A tiny amount of natural raspberry flavouring (to make the juice more palatable)

Citric acid (a natural preservative)

About the Merchant

Healthwize is a reputable provider of supplements and other health products, and has been established online since 1999. This company offers friendly, helpful service, and an excellent range of high quality natural health products. The website is not the prettiest ever, but it is easy to use and navigate. Orders can be placed online or by phone, and Healthwize ships within the UK and Europe. American visitors should check out the US site.

Consumer Opinions

Healthwize Organic Noni Juice is a popular choice with customers, and as a result, the company can provide this high quality juice at a price that is among the lowest in Europe. A quick survey online also finds a number of positive reviews for Healthwize itself, and if you decide to try this noni juice, you can feel confident that you’ll get an excellent product and service to match.

Verdict

A top quality noni juice from a very good provider.

Price

Healthwize Organic Noni Juice is £11.45 per litre.

It is recommended that you take 30ml per day, so a bottle of this size will last for 33 days.

Availability

Healthwize ship to the UK and Europe. Customers in America should visit the US site.

Noni juice is derived from the noni fruit, Morinda citrifolia. The noni fruit is native to south east Asia, but has been extensively spread by human influence throughout the tropics. The noni fruit now grows in India, South America, Australia, New Zealand, the French Polynesian islands and many Pacific Islands, in addition to its native habitat. The most well-known variety of noni fruit is that which hails from Tahiti, thanks to the health benefits that are particularly associated with Tahitian noni juice, which is believed by some to be especially rich in nutrients (although this is debatable, and the ‘Tahitian noni juice vs noni juice from other areas’ controversy is discussed elsewhere on this site).

The noni fruit is oval in shape and about 6cm in length, and is a yellow-white colour when ripe. It has a bitter taste and strong odour, but is nonetheless eaten in several cultures, sometimes even as a staple food. Noni fruits are also used in some countries to produce dye, and in Malaysia it is used to make shampoo. However, the noni fruit is most commonly used for medicinal purposes, and it is an important aspect of the folk medicine traditions of many tropical cultures. Other parts of the noni tree, such as the leaves, seeds and bark, are also used for medicinal and other purposes. However, it is the noni fruit (and resulting noni juice)’s reputed health properties that make it so popular in the west today.

The health benefits associated with noni juice will be explored extensively in future posts.

Noni juice is the best known type of noni product, and also the most commonly used in the areas where noni grows. However, the noni tree is a very versatile plant, and other noni products are often used as well, both for medicinal and other purposes. These will be explored in more detail in later posts - for now, here is a summary:

Dried noni

Noni juice is rather bitter in taste, and is unpalatable to some people. If you’re one of them, dont worry because you can still get the benefits offered by noni juice by taking it in dried form. Dried noni is usually sold in capsules, which may be easily swallowed with water.

Noni seed oil

This oil is extracted from the seeds of the noni plant, and is applied topically to the skin. It is said to have excellent hydrating properties, mkaing it good for dry skin conditions. It is also an anti-inflammatory.

Noni fruit

The whole noni fruit may be applied topically to the skin or hair, or to injuries such as broken bones and wounds. This is one of the traditional uses of noni.

Noni as a food

Although the noni fruit is strong smelling and bitter in taste, it is eaten (raw and/or cooked) in some societies. The seeds of the noni fruit may also be roasted and eaten.

Noni for pets

Animals can experience similar benefits to humans from noni fruits. Some companies produce supplements aimed at specific species such as horses. Noni juice may also be added to the diets of many pets to beneficial effect (the dosage should obviously be adjusted in proportion to the animal’s weight, and you should check with your vet before giving noni juice to a pet if the animal is on medication, or you’re unsure about anything).

Noni toiletries

Noni has a long history of topical use for skin and hair care, and is now often used as an ingredient in skincare products and other toiletries. Some noni juice manufacturers also produce entire ranges of noni body care products.

Noni dyes

Another traditional use of the noni plant is in the manufacture of dye. The bark of the noni tree produces a brown-purple colour dye, whereas the roots give a yellowish colour.

These noni products and applications will be dicussed in more detail in separate articles - stay tuned!

Noni juice is a somewhat controversial topic in some circles, and it is unfortunate that this excellent natural product, that has been used beneficially by many cultures around the world for centuries, has gotten a bad rap. As I see it, some of the reasons for the controversy are:

The claims made for its healing abilities

Noni juice has been touted as a cure-all for everything from headaches to cancer. The more restrained proponents of the juice note that it can give beneficial results to some people, and that it has a long history of successful medicinal use in the south Pacific and elsewhere. Such claims do not sit well with closed-minded types who are firmly mired in conventional medical orthodoxy, and who are suspicious of ‘alternative’ and natural healing methods, particularly if they haven’t yet been subjected to extensive and rigorous scientific investigation (as if natural methods only work when they have a scientific seal of approval - never mind the successful results that people have been getting with noni juice for centuries!). To be fair though, it is irresponsible to claim that noni juice (or any product) is guaranteed to heal X condition, or is guaranteed to work for all people - no substance, natural or otherwise, will work every time. Reputable noni juice manufacturers will describe the benefits that many people have experienced while using noni juice, but they will never claim that such results are guaranteed, or even typical.

The proliferation of poor quality noni juices on the market

Much of what is sold as ‘noni juice’ is no such thing. Some manufacturers sell ‘noni drinks’ which may contain only a small quantity of noni juice, mixed up with other fruit juice fillers, water, sugar, synthetic flavourings and other nasties. It goes without saying that these products do not offer the same benefits as a high quality pure noni juice, and they should not be confused with the real thing.

The way noni juice is sometimes sold

Noni juice is sometimes sold through MLM schemes. The best known manufacturer, Tahitian Noni Juice internatonal, uses such a business model, as do some other noni juice producers. MLM marketing methods have something of a bad reputation among the general public. But while some products sold using MLM methods may be very good, and an MLM structure isn’t necessarily a sign of a shady business, such methods can lead to artifically high prices (as all of the distributors take their cut), and sometimes distributors make outlandish claims to increase sales (although such tactics aren’t limited to MLM marketers of course!).

So if you’re interested in trying noni juice, don’t be scared off by the controversy surrounding it, as much of this controversy is rooted in ignorance about what noni juice really is, and the effects it may have. Just be aware that there are a few shady operators out there, and it’s not the miracle cure-all that it’s sometimes touted as. Use your common sense, find a good quality brand to experiment with (this site can help with that), and try it for yourself. It can be helpful to listen to what others have to say, but in the end, only your own body can tell you if something is working for you, or not.

So, you’ve heard about all the great things that noni juice might be able to do for you. But what is it exactly?

Noni juice is made from the fruit of the noni tree, morinda citrifolia. The noni fruit is native to southeast Asia, and is widely grown in tropical areas around the world. It is also known by such colloquial names as Indian mulberry and beach mulberry. The fruit is yellowish-white in colour when ripe, and around 4-7cm in size. Although it is a staple food in a few areas, it is not generally eaten in most places, thanks to its strong smell and bitter taste. Instead, the noni fruit (and other parts of the noni tree such as the leaves and bark) are more widely valued for their other, non-food uses, and for their medicinal properties in particular.

Although the noni plant has only recently gained attention in the west, other cultures have been using noni juice and other noni products for hundreds, and in some cases, thousands of years. Throughout Asia, Polynesia, India, South America, various Pacific islands and other areas, the noni plant has been used to treat ailments as diverse as fever, eyesight problems, skin problems, respiratory issues and digestive difficulties, amongst others. Such wide-ranging applications are part of the reason for noni juice’s popularity in the west today, and also for the scepticism with which it is regarded by many people, who often see such claims as over-inflated. Still, sceptics aside, the fact remains that many people, both today and throughout history, appear to benefited greatly by using noni juice and other noni products.

Today in the west noni is most often consumed in juice form. As relatively few people are in a position to consume freshly made noni juice, most of the noni juice that is available to buy has been treated to some extent in order to preserve it. When buying noni juice it is extremely important to select a brand that has been subjeced to minimal processing, as heat treatment, irradiation and other preservation techniqes can seriously impair the benefits of the juice. You are basically looking for noni juice that is as close to its natural state as possible. More will be written about noni juice processing techniques and what to look for when buying in future posts.

Noni juice is somewhat bitter, and not to everyone’s taste. While it can be mixed with other juices to make it more palatable, many people prefer to take noni in other forms, such as capsules containing dehydrated noni fruit. Again, more information about other noni products will be provided soon.

Tahitian noni juice currently has the highest profile, and many claim that noni fruits grown in Tahiti produce superior juice to those grown elsewhere. This is not necessarily the case; while it is true that some excellent noni juices do originate in Tahiti, noni juice from Hawaii, New Zealand and many other noni-producing countries can be just as good. The quality of noni juice has much more to do with how the fruit is grown and processed than with where it originates.

So there you have it: in summary, noni juice is a time-honoured product that many people have found to be helpful when healing from a wide range of ailments, and in maintaining excellent health thereafter. While it is wrong to claim that noni juice and other noni products can heal any particular illness, or are effective for everyone (and you should be wary of manufacturers who make such grandiose claims), noni juice is certainly worth investigating further if you are interested in being as healthy as you can be.

Coming up soon - we’ll look at how noni juice may achieve it’s health-promoting effects, what to look for when buying noni juice and other noni products, how to use noni juice for maximum benefits, reviews of the various types of noni juices on the market, and much more.

In recent years noni juice has become something of a health craze, with Tahitian noni juice proving particularly popular. Many people claim to have experienced dramatic health benefits as a result of drinking noni juice. Many others are also extremely sceptical, pointing out that there is little in the way of hard scientific evidence to back up such claims. It is true that the noni fruit and its products have not been studied as extensively as some other foods, but the fact remains that many, many people claim that it has helped them to recover from various ailments and to achieve even better than ‘normal’ health. It is also true that the noni plant has an extremely long history of being successfully used for medicinal purposes by the Tahitians and many other cultures in the tropical regions where the noni tree grows.

So when deciding if Tahitian noni juice or other noni products are worth trying, it is best to remember that science doesn’t yet have all the answers. At the same time, bear in mind that there are a number of unscrupulous noni juice sellers out there who are making over-inflated claims and pushing poor quality products. Noni juice is not a miracle cure, and is not guaranteed to work for everyone, but people who have tried good quality noni products do often appear to have experienced very real benefits. If you’re thinking of trying noni juice, you need to strike a balance between open-mindedness and healthy scepticism (to identify stay clear of the less scrupulous sellers), and ideally, to judge it on the basis of your own experience. This site aims to help by sifting out the good noni products from the bad, and providing lots of useful noni-related information to help you make an informed decision.

Coming up next - more information about the noni fruit, noni juice and their uses and benefits.

This site provides a wealth of information about the noni plant, and the health properties of the juice that is derived from it. Many people have experienced significant health benefits from regularly drinking Tahitian noni juice and noni juice from other countries, and many more are keen to try it, as it becomes more well-known. However, the claims made for Tahitian noni juice are somewhat controversial, in part because of the proliferation of shady producers who sell inferior Tahitian noni juice products. It is also not necessarily true that Tahitian noni juice is always superior to the juice of noni fruits grown elsewhere. This blog will provide lots of information about noni juice in all of its forms, and also help you to identify the most reputable noni juice retailers (Tahitian and otherwise), so that if you decide to try it, you can be sure you’re not going to get ripped off.
